AD Full Form in Law

The Full Form of AD in Law is Advertisement. It is noteworthy that India’s advertising industry has undergone significant change in recent years. From the Doordarshan as well as Prasar Bharti methods of advertising to contemporary television channels and media, the government was compelled to enact a number of laws to regulate such sought-after commercials due to their growing misuse, which included the promotion of alcohol, a banned drug, and harmful substances like cigarette tobacco.
Let us discuss the laws that are in charge of regulating deceptive advertising in India:

  • The 1978 Press Council of Indian Act.
  • The Cable Television Amendment Act of 2006 and the Cable Television Regulation Acts dated 1955.
  • The Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI), it was founded in the year 1985.

India’s Advertising Standard Council was established as a nonstatutory body. In order to introduce advertising ethics in India, it formulated a self-regulating framework of rules. The advertising is evaluated by the ASCI using their own Standards of Advertising Practice, also known as ASCI code. The ASCI Code applies to ads that are read, heard, or shown in the country of India, regardless of where they are published or originated, as long the advertisements are aimed at Indian consumers or are in front of a sizable Indian customer base.
